Support individuals and families facing the end of life.
Assist with all aspects of end-of-life decision making.
Explain all options to achieve a peaceful, humane death.
Facilitate discussions about end-of-life choices between patients, physicians, and family members.
Advocate for effective pain and symptom management; excellent end-of-life care; and patient choice in the community, the legislature, medical institutions, and at bedsides.

Refer to hospice providers, pain specialists, social service agencies, support groups, and bereavement care.
Educate the public, health care professionals, lawmakers, and the media about end-of-life issues.
Promote the use of advance directives and communication about end-of-life wishes.
Uphold the rights of patients whose end-of-life wishes are not being honored, and the right of qualified patients to use the Washington Death with Dignity Act (DWDA).
Provide personal presence, if requested, at the time of a DWDA death.
